Introducing the Delectable BK Royal Crispy Chicken Sandwich

If you’ve been scouring Burger King’s latest menu offerings, you may have noticed that the Ch’King has disappeared from the scene. That’s right – it seems Burger King has moved on from the Chicken Sandwich Wars by discontinuing the Ch’King. Now, I don’t know about you, but I won’t really miss it. Sure, saying “Ch’King” out loud was quite amusing, but I never felt it held up against the likes of Popeyes or KFC. It was alright, but it felt like Burger King was a bit out of its league.

Thankfully, Burger King’s higher-ups must have shared similar thoughts. Their new BK Royal Crispy Chicken Sandwiches bring back the traditional fast-food chicken sandwich vibe that existed before Popeyes shook things up. These sandwiches may be smaller compared to their hefty predecessor, but, in my opinion, they taste better.

A Classic Twist

The Classic version features a “crispy” white meat chicken fillet, topped with lettuce, tomato (although I prefer mine without), and a savory “royal sauce,” all nestled between a perfectly toasted potato bun. While my chicken wasn’t as crispy as advertised, it was still delicious. The patty may not reach the same legendary status as the Ch’King, and it may pale in comparison to the other contenders in the Chicken Sandwich War, but it still holds its own as a “premium” fast-food chicken sandwich.

The Magic of Royal Sauce

The real star of the show is the “royal sauce” that accompanies the BK Royal Crispy Chicken Sandwich. Although I couldn’t find confirmation, I believe this sauce is brand new. It’s a killer sauce, with slight hints of pepper and a touch of parmesan cheese-like flavor. The profile of the sauce resembles that of a fancy Caesar dressing, truly living up to its regal name.

Elevating the Experience

Using potato buns, instead of the standard sandwich bun, is always a smart move. They simply elevate the entire sandwich, enhancing both the flavor and texture. While the lettuce on my sandwich was sloppily placed, it was a necessary ingredient. It added a nice touch, making it feel like a chicken sandwich topped with a delectable savory Caesar Salad.

More Flavors to Savor

The BK Royal Crispy Chicken Sandwiches might not gain the same popularity as their predecessor, but they do come in a variety of flavors. Options like Spicy, Southern BBQ, and the Classic with Bacon and Swiss Cheese are available. While I personally believe that bacon and cheese do very little to enhance a chicken sandwich, I must admit that they all sound pretty darn good.

The Next Chapter

While the original long boy Chicken Sandwich continues to hold its place as my BK gold standard, this new addition is a strong contender. So, don’t fret if you’re feeling bummed about the disappearance of the Ch’King. Burger King’s BK Royal sandwich may not be as grand and flashy, but it still offers a classy chicken sandwich experience. And who knows, in a couple of years, the chain might just bring back the Ch’King with a “Return of the Ch’King” campaign.

Whatever the future holds, I just hope Burger King decides to keep the royal sauce around as an add-on or dipping sauce. Trust me, once you try it, you won’t want to let go.
