What is Fry Sauce?
At its core, fry sauce can simply be a combination of mayo and ketchup. However, I’ve taken it a step further to bring even more depth of flavor to the party! My recipe includes pickle juice for a tangy kick, as well as spices like paprika, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper. Feel free to adjust the cayenne based on your spice preference, adding more if you’re a fan of heat!
What Can I Dip in Fry Sauce?
Honestly, you can dip just about anything in this sauce! Of course, the classic choice is fries. For this article, I decided to give Green Giant Veggie Fries a try. They come in two delicious flavors: zucchini garlic and Parmesan, and cauliflower ranch with bacon. These veggie fries are incredibly tasty on their own, but when paired with this simple dipping sauce, they truly take it up a notch. Plus, they provide a full serving of vegetables!
I also highly recommend using this sauce directly on burgers. If I’m not dipping a fry, you can bet that my burger is taking a delicious dunk!
What Are Some Variations of Fry Sauce?
If you talk to ten fry sauce enthusiasts, you’ll quickly discover that everyone has their own preferred twist on the recipe. So, I thought it would be fun to come up with a few alternative options to amp up the flavor or switch things up:
- Swap out the ketchup for BBQ sauce to infuse your sauce with a smoky essence.
- Substitute some or all of the mayo with plain Greek yogurt for a lighter dipping experience.
- Use smoked paprika instead of regular paprika to bring a deeper, smokier flavor profile.
- Add a dash of dill pickle relish for a burst of tangy brine.
Tell me More about Veggie Fries!
I’ve always been a fan of Green Giant® Veggie Tots® Cauliflower, so when I discovered that they now make Veggie Fries, I was beyond excited! Both varieties of Veggie Fries that I tried tasted fantastic and cooked up perfectly in the oven. I was thrilled to see that they also include air fryer directions on the packaging.
When I was a nanny, getting kids to eat their vegetables was often a challenge. However, products like Veggie Fries make it easier because they offer a tasty (and crunchy!) way to incorporate more veggies into their diets. The fact that each serving of Veggie Fries contains a full serving of vegetables is a huge bonus and makes me even more enthusiastic about this product!
How Do I Store Fry Sauce?
If you find yourself with any leftover fry sauce (and trust me, that’s a big “if”), simply store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator. You can also cut the recipe in half if you want to make a smaller batch.
If you’re craving a spicier dipping experience, you can increase the amount of cayenne pepper or add a splash (or two!) of your favorite hot sauce.
