Subway® Takes a Stand Against Hunger, Donating Over 13.3 Million Meals Worldwide

Hunger is a pressing issue that affects millions of people around the world. Subway®, the global food company, is committed to combating this problem head-on. With the help of their dedicated franchisees, talented Sandwich Artists™, and loyal customers, Subway® has made a significant impact on hunger in over 60 countries.

The World Food Program reports that one in nine individuals worldwide face hunger daily, with children, working families, and seniors being the most affected. To address this crisis, Subway® took National Sandwich Day to a global level with World Sandwich Day. This initiative aimed to raise awareness and provide help to those who do not have enough to eat.

More than 40,000 Subway® restaurants across 60 countries, including the United States, joined forces to tackle worldwide hunger. By participating in World Sandwich Day, Subway® donated a staggering 13.3 million meals to individuals in need.

John Scott, Subway’s Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility, expressed, “Every day, many people struggle to find the food they need to thrive, and families worldwide face the challenge of putting food on the table. As the largest sandwich restaurant chain globally, Subway® has the unique opportunity to shed light on this issue and partner with organizations to fight hunger.”

In the United States, Subway® made a substantial contribution to Feeding America, the largest domestic hunger-relief organization. With a donation of 11.5 million meals, Subway® supported their efforts in fighting hunger within communities across the nation. This marks the second consecutive year that Subway® has collaborated with Feeding America on World Sandwich Day, building on their previous record-breaking donation of 11 million meals in 2016.
