Embrace the Magic: How to Use Tallow for Your Hair
I’ve discovered several fantastic ways to incorporate tallow into my hair care routine. Take a look at my favorite methods:
1. Tallow Shampoo Bar
Creating my own tallow shampoo bars has been a game-changer. It took countless trials to find the perfect all-natural hair washing solution, but I finally nailed it. These shampoo bars not only lather like a dream but also leave your hair feeling soft, clean, and perfectly moisturized. You owe it to yourself to try one here and get the recipe here.
2. DIY Heat Protectant
Another method I swear by is incorporating tallow into a DIY heat protectant recipe. I combine avocado oil with grass-fed tallow and a dash of essential oil to shield my hair from heat damage. I love applying this mixture onto my wet hair, as it acts as a leave-in conditioner, anti-frizz serum, shine enhancer, and heat protectant, all in one.
3. Deep Conditioning Treatment
Every now and then, I indulge my hair with a luxurious deep conditioning treatment using tallow. I either use the DIY heat protectant or opt for a tallow balm. You can find an incredible tallow balm here. Here’s how I do it: I massage a small amount of tallow balm or heat protectant onto the ends of my hair, ensuring they’re thoroughly hydrated. I gently work the product up the length of my hair, especially since my hair is currently quite long. After letting it sit for about 20 minutes, I shampoo my hair as usual, and voila! I’m good to go.
If you’re struggling with dry or itchy scalp, you’ll find that tallow is the perfect solution. Simply follow the same directions, but make sure to apply the treatment to your scalp as well. Additionally, consider adding some tea tree or peppermint oil to alleviate scalp conditions.
